andy meecham is a man of many musical incarnations and has been since the early 90s. following on from projects like the now dormant bizarre inc and revived dub-disco duo chicken lips, it is as the emperor machine that he explores his most experimental sounds. to date there have been three full length albums on dc recordings after the project was initially started with the idea of creating music using just one synth, the roland sh-3a. the results lay out the staffordshire mans love of vintage synthesisers for all to see, and combine tough edged disco beats with more cerebral cosmic melodies into alluring soundscapes that bend your mind and drive your feet. as well as a slew of 12s and lps, the emperor machine has also turned his hand to remixes of giants like moby, daft punk and royksopp, and has previously taken a live and inspiringly psychedelic incarnation of the project to clubs and festivals across the planet.

chicken lips are back with a new release on southern fried records. d.r.o.m.p (don’t rain on my parade) is a disco inspired groove that draws on the nyc eighties vibe that has always been at the heart of the lips work, with guest vocalist charmaine making up the line up on this outing.
it comes with a stunning set of remixes, as always andy from the lips has created an emperor machine interpretation that is darker and more cosmic than its original, dean does the same job under his the rhythm odyssey moniker, providing a jerky acidic house dub for the deeper floors. old pal headman turns in his classic slo-mo tight grooves, new kids amine edge & dance go deep as you like in the same vein as their diynamic releases and finally sfr favourite sona vabos delivers one of his finest remixes to date, with this bouncy floor filler.

jorge ciccioli shows up again on rrygular. with his new release >southern tool< the argentinian dives really deep into the minimal genre. by focussing on the most important elements he created three handy and driving dj tools. and although the tunes are already well arranged there is room to experiment while playing. the track >sinatsuma< comes with a nice signature phrase that might get stuck in your head. the whole b face is reserved for the remix by franco cinelli who turned the main track into a dubby techhouse tune of almost 10min. nice one.

what a back to back funk winner... we had quite a dilemma on these two... we love the original tracks so much, that it was dificult to chose wether to re edit them or just release them as they were... we couldnt figure out, so we decided to reach a middle ground. a side is totaly redone, with extra programed breaks and clavinet hooks for maximum pleasure, as b side gets the release totaly as the original 12inch intrumental version (yes the one on the original indie release, not the one from the later major repress)... well... totally... not quite, the rythm has been straighten and quantize, so now you can mix it...
